Overview

This turtle watching gives you the opportunity to see the endangered leatherback turtles coming on to the beach to lay their eggs. You can also assist with the tagging and recording of this ritual. The tour is 5 to 6 hours and only takes place from March to August. It will depart from your hotel/ pickup location in Port of Spain around 6pm.

What To Expect

At Matura Beach, you will see all the different stage of the leatherback turtle egg laying process. From the turtles coming up on the beach to the actual laying of the eggs and returning to the water.

Myself, my daughter and my granddaughter, had the most intriguing experience watching the turtles hatched their eggs. Our driver Mr. Errol Sinnan was phenomenal and engaged us in a very educational history of the turtles and their migration and nesting in Trinidad and Tobago.

I am quite pleased with the service that I have received from Viator and is looking forward to utilize their tours for other destinations in the future.
