Great rainforest tour with Michael
SLJCrew, 14-08-2022
Michael’s passion for the rainforest combined with his ability to locate and identify the resident flora and fauna, created a magical experience. We were able to see so many species from hummingbirds to raptors…from both within the rainforest but also Michael’s eagle eye often spotted something of interest at the roadside. Punctual, polite and personable, I can thoroughly recommend Michael’s rainforest and bird spotting tour.

I highly recommend Michael "The Birdman" Gobin for tours of the Forest Reserve, Little Tobago and any other driving/hiking tours you might be interested in taking on the island. I was born in Trinidad but now live in California. We visit the twin islands every 4 to 5 years. This trip invlude my grown kids (three twenty somethings) and me. While you can do probably do these tours/hikes on your own, the experience with a trained/licensed guide enhances the experience significantly.

Michael, has clearly earned his name "The Birdman." Growing up in nearby Roxborough, he spent many days in his youth roaming the local forests and acquainting himself with the plants, birds and animals of his environment. Michael knows where certain species live and feed, can identify their sounds and mimics their calls to bring them out into the open. He has observed their habits and patterns and provides a wealth of information during the tour. He has a car and can pick you up and return you to your hotel/place of stay.

Michael is not only knowledgeable as a guide but is responsive, friendly, honest and courteous in all of his dealings.. We told him what we were looking to do and he set up all of the arrangements for us. He was on-time and went above and beyond to ensure that we had an incredibld experience over the two full days we spent with him.

My young adults really enjoyed Michael's warmth and sense of humor. If you want to avoid the hustle-style of many other guides in Tobago (Store Bay and Crown Point areas), then Michael should definitely be your choice!

Me and my dad had Junior taking us along the gilpin trail today. It was my first time in a rainforest and Junior shared his wide knowledge of birds and love of nature with us both. He answered all questions and made sure we were enjoying ourselves, couldn’t recommend him more! :)
Tobago trip extraordinaire

Michael ‘Birdman’ arranged a great tailormade day for us. We drove firstly to the Rainforest near Roxborough and were shown all sorts of birds including the white tailed sabre winged hummingbird and its nest. He took time to show us and explain the interesting flora and fauna. Then we took a boat on the Atlantic side of the island and went to Little Tobago, passing Ian Fleming’s house on the way. We were excited to see a turtle too. We walked to the top of the island and saw amazing views as well as seabirds including the redbilled tropic bird with a very long tail. We enjoyed a snorkel and lunch… a fantastic day out. Thank you Michael.
